Cast iron post by the A54, in parish of Holmes Chapel (Congleton District), West of Holmes Chapel, on the verge in hedge, on North side of road. Cast iron CCC1898, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : HOLMES CHAPEL / 1 MILE / CHELFORD 7 / CONGLETON 8 / MACCLESFIELD 13½ : : CHESHIRE / 1898 / COUNTY COUNCIL : : MIDDLEWICH / 3 MILES / NORTHWICH 9 : Maker:- : W H SMITH & CO / MAKERS / WHITCHURCH : Milestone Society National ID: CH_NTMF09
