Cast iron post by the A54 (was A51), in parish of Tarvin (Chester District), East of roundabout junction of the A54 and A51, on the verge in front of barrier, on South side of road. Cast iron CCC1898, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : CHESTER / 5 MILES : : CHESHIRE / 1898 / COUNTY COUNCIL : : TARVIN / ½ MILE / KELSALL 3 / TARPORLEY 5 / NORTHWICH 12½ / NANTWICH 11 : Maker:- : W H SMITH & CO / MAKERS / WHITCHURCH : Milestone Society National ID: CH_CHNW05
