Cast iron post by the A56, in parish of Stockton Heath (Warrington District), London Road, at the junction with Grappenhall Road in niche between shops, on East side of road. Cast iron CCC1898, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : PRESTON BROOK / 5 MILES / FRODSHAM 8 / CHESTER 18½ : : CHESHIRE / 1898 / COUNTY COUNCIL : : LYMM / 4½ MILES / ALTRINCHAM 11 / MANCHESTER 19 : Maker:- : W H SMITH & CO / MAKERS / WHITCHURCH : Grade II listed.
