Carved stone post by the A417, in parish of Wantage (Vale of White Horse District), Portway; East of Charlton village turn, 30m West of barnyard, back to chainlink fence among young trees, high on bank over the deep ditch, on South side of road. Vale square, erected by the Wallingford, Wantage & Faringdon turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- WALLINGFORD 13 WANTAGE 1 Milestone Society National ID: BE_WAWL01
