This notice standing beside the A417 at Over Causeway, near the junction of Westend Parade and Westend Terrace, announces the Environment Agency's Alney Island Flood Alleviation Scheme. This area, being on the right bank of the Severn west of Gloucester, has been subject to repeated flooding in the past. I can remember, while living here in a bedsit in Westend Terrace, in one year meals being delivered by people getting about in dinghies to us stranded ones. Time photo taken 4.11 pm BST (British Summer Time).
