There are several carved flagstones set into the pavement of Town Street in Armley with snippets of the town's history; this one records the discovery of the bones of four ice-age hippos in 1852. I thought that hippos only survived in warm climates? See Image for context - the plaque is outside Concept Recruitment in the middle of the photo.
