Originally a 17th century timber-framed cottage, the exterior of Essington House was largely rebuilt in brick in the 18th century, and has been further altered since then. It was Grade II listed https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101038918-essington-house-alrewas#.WiWzWtSLTGg in 1986. Timber framing and a large, open fireplace remain in place inside the house, but little evidence of its origins is visible to the exterior.
