Carved stone obelisk in parish of Ampthill (Mid Bedfordshire District), on B530, Church Street, next to junction of Bedford Street. Erected privately for the Earl of Upper Ossory; dated 1785. Inscription reads:- : TO WOBURN / VII MILES / TO BEDFORD / VIII MILES / TO DUNSTABLE / XII MILES / TO LONDON XLV MILES : : ERECTED BY / THE EARL OF / UPPER OSSORY / A.D. MDCCLXXXV : Attached to the stone are lamp finial, water pump with trough and handle. Grade II Listed.
