Chelfham Viaduct

Built of local Marland brick this 8 arch viaduct is, at 132 yards long & 70ft high, the largest 2ft gauge viaduct in the country. It took the Lynton & Barnstaple Rly across the Stoke Rivers valley. Immediately to the north of the viaduct (left in this photo) is Chelfham Station, see Image A Gr. 2 listed structure, in 2000 it was restored to a condition to allow trains to once again steam across it.
