Ingleton War Memorial

The war memorial at Ingleton was constructed in 1920 and stands within a conservation area just outside the churchyard of St Mary’s Church. It is in the form of a Celtic cross on a plinth with a two-stepped base. The inscription on the front reads: IN MEMORY OF THE 41 MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE UP THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY AND FREEDOM IN THE WAR OF 1914 -1919 A bronze (?) plaque fixed to the wall behind the memorial is inscribed: IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF INGLETON WHO FELL IN THE TWO WORLD WARS and lists the names of the 41 men who lost their lives in the First World War and 7 from the Second World War (http://www.cpgw.org.uk/local-war-memorials/ingleton-yorkshire/ list of names)
