Ford station on the Fazakerley to Bootle (North Mersey) line closed in 1951 although regular freight to/from the docks continued on this line until 1971 and it was still used occasionally until 2005. Image taken in 1959 shows this area from the other direction. There is no hint now of the station or of the once extensive railway sidings ("Aintree sorting sidings") apart from one rusting track disappearing into the undergrowth.
