Landscaping the bank of the River Aire along Wheldon Road was funded by Hicksons chemical works (visible in the background) in the early 1990s, keen to improve its bad environmental image at the time. Part of the company's logo - a quartered circle with letter H - can be seen laid in brickwork in the ground. The river, incidentally, is just over the fence behind the information board.
