When I was a student in Edinburgh, there was no barrier to exploring the docks, either on foot or (if one was fortunate enough to have one) by car, and very interesting it was too. These days the whole of the working area is surrounded by security fencing and signs threatening prosecution. Happily the camera I had with me today has a lens narrow enough to fit through the gaps in the gate, so I was able to capture this view from outside.
