On the wall behind railings here. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5591812 The board records that the adjacent courtyard is named to commemorate the famous music hall singer and male impersonator Vesta Tilley . Born Matilda Alice Powles in this city, she married Sir Walter de Frece, a musical hall magnate and politician, in 1890. She retired from the stage in 1920.
