The Vale of Belvoir is a low-lying area on the borders of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. The name derives from the Norman-French for beautiful view. St Mary's church in Bottesford is three miles away. Staythorpe Power Station is twelve and a half miles away, visible behind the church.
