The Vale of Belvoir is a low-lying area on the borders of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. The name derives from the Norman-French for beautiful view. The village of Barkestone-le-Vale is two and a half miles away, with the city of Nottingham fifteen miles away on the left horizon.
