The Bark House was operated as a Militaria Museum in the mid 1980s, when it was Grade II listed https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101278883-militaria-museum-bude-stratton#.WfAzpvlSyM8. Originally built around the 1820s, it probably started life as a general equipment store for one of the barge operators, and has been variously a salt store, tannery and lime house.
