Description by Terry Jacombs from Image The Cheltenham Elephant Invasion Mosaics! In 1934, three elephants from Chapman's Circus visiting Cheltenham were paraded through the town and one of them invaded a local seed merchants (Bloodworths). Whether an accident or a deliberate publicity stunt - who knows? The event is portrayed in five mosiacs in the passage leading from Grosvenor Place South to the High Street on the wall of a 1970s/1980 retail development. There is still a Bloodworths store in Cheltenham, on the Bath Road, now a pet/hardware/general store. Without the graffiti. Elephant Mural (1993) mosaic panels by Turton and Robertson.
