The station building on the up side of the west coast main line now forms the ticket office, a pub and retail units. The building roof and parapets are being repaired following the discovery of damage due to rainwater ingress. There appears to have been damage to the entrance hall wall also (in the centre of the photo). The works have required the temporary closure of the whole building. The west coast main line platforms at Carnforth were closed and cut back in about 1970 (prior to electrification). See http://www.carnforth-station.co.uk/.
