Built in the 1870s on the site of a former Methodist chapel, St Joseph's Catholic Church is a grade II listed building http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101384456-church-of-st-joseph-with-number-11-attached-presbytery-douglas-ward on the fringe of Wigan town centre and was the Sunday school of a certain George Formby. It has been closed since 1995. The former presbytery next door Image has been converted to flats.
