This Ordnance Survey bench mark is cut into an old stone gatepost in a gateway that is set back from Old Buxton Road, just west of Teggsnose Lane. A bench mark is recorded close to this location from 1871, but at the roadside. The gateway is only shown inset into the field from 1969, so I suspect it is the original mark, which was re-surveyed after the field entrance was altered for safer access from the main road.
