County Hall was begun in 1937 but not completed until after the War. Its main entrances on the Trent and Loughborough Road fronts are flanked by statues by the Nottingham sculptor Robert Kiddey (1900-84) which wouldn't have looked out of place in the Soviet Union. This one shows fruit-picking and harvesting, representing agriculture in the county. To the right of the doors is Image The statues on the Loughborough Road side represent mining and metalworking.
