The church was founded in 1969 by a group of members of a Congregational Church which had decided to become part of the recently formed United Reformed Church. The group did not agree with the URC's proposed statement of faith and therefore resigned. They initially met in members homes and then decided to continue as a Congregational Church. Soon afterwards they took over this building from a local Temperance Society. The church remains independent but is a member of the Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches. Image
