A relief carving inside the lych gate Image, added in 1924. The text on this side is "sister Martha this gateway is dedicated by Lucy Prince-Smith 1924". Presumably it was dedicated to Martha who had died in 1923 aged only 51; the sisters were among the children of Sir Prince Smith (see shared description), whose wife and mother were also called Martha (information from the family website www.terry-smith.info ).
