The plaque on the white house here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5509460 records that Richard Edward Williams MBE (1924-2007), the internationally renowned choral conductor, was honoured with an MBE for his services to music. He was the first musician to be awarded an honorary degree by the Open University.
