I remember seeing this on the television news whilst on holiday with my family staying with relatives in Dumfries in Scotland. Until today when I found this memorial I had never given a thought as to where the aircrash took place. The inscription on this wall memorial in Bobbington church reads: 'IN MEMORY OF H.R.H PRINCE WILLIAM OF GLOUCESTER AND HIS FRIEND LT. COMMANDER VYRRELL MITCHELL R.N. (RET) WHO LOST THEIR LIVES AT HALFPENNY GREEN WHEN THE PRINCE'S AIRCRAFT CRASHED ON 28TH AUGUST 1972.'
