This extraordinary door is at the east end of Oughtershaw School. The inscription above "IN MEMORIAM" reads: LYDIA WILSON WOODD DIED AT PAU 16 JUNE 1856 AGED 32 The school was built in 1856 probably by John Ruskin for Charles Woodd, in memory of his wife Lydia Wilson Woodd.
