Built as a house in the early 18th century, later a hotel and now a bookstore. Originally two storeys with the top two storeys added circa 1860. Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) had his headquarters in the building for 3 days during the Jacobite Rebellion in 1745. Only the facade is original, the building being demolished in 1985. Listed, category C, with details at: http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB26218
