"Resurgence" outside Darlington Town Hall

"Resurgence" is a sculpture by John Hoskin which was commissioned to stand outside the new Town Hall on Feethams. It is a large-scale geometric sculpture made from mild and stainless steel and celebrates Darlington’s recovery after the closure of its railway industries. The artwork measures 18ft in height and weights two-and- a half-tonnes, and it also pays reference to Darlington’s engineering past and refers to the vertical lines of the Town Hall building behind. The sculpture was unveiled in May 1970.
