A public footpath from the stile at SO58959225 crosses this superbly ploughed field and I was the first to navigate an accurate course over the farmer's work. A slight rise prevents the view of the gateway at the other end of the field. I was half expecting an angry challenge! An aged chap in a hat later told me that barley would be the next crop.
