Originally dedicated as a War Memorial in 1928, these gates were rededicated in 2006, at which time the previous cast inscriptions in the pillars were replaced by slate plaques recording the names of the fallen of both World Wars. The structure was Grade II listed https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101443882-war-memorial-gates-hartshill-park-oakengates-telford-oakengates#.WY3BmtQrLGg in 2017.
