We had been warned - heavy rain was forecast for the afternoon of Whitstable's Harbour Day. There were rumbles of distant thunder, then the sky blackened - and people hurried towards the town centre. When the downpour started crowds of us huddled under the awnings of shops and restaurants. No doubt many traders did better business than they'd have done on a sunny day.
