White weather-boarded dwellings are a Whitstable speciality. There are many cottagey examples around the town centre, while these - a little larger - are in a more suburban area south of the railway. In parliamentary terms, Whitstable falls within the Canterbury constituency. Judging by the size of the lettering on the local Labour Party rooms, they're still celebrating the fact that Canterbury - against all precedent - returned a Labour MP to Westminster in 2017.
