Unveiled on 8 April 1995 by the mayor, Cllr Bobbie Jones, the Railway Man statue by sculptor Jill Tweed, was the town's first major piece of public art and forms the centrepiece of the Leigh Road pedestrian precinct. It depicts a skilled railway worker of the 1930s to celebrate Eastleigh's heritage as a railway town and the many people who worked at the Eastleigh Railway Works https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastleigh_Works .
