The boards at Marple railway station depict the ten Miss Marple novels by Agatha Christie. It is said that Dame Agatha drew her inspiration for her heroine's name from the town of Marple which she visited several times. The novels depicted are: A body in the library, The murder at the vicarage, A pocketful of rye, The mirror crack'd from side to side, 4.50 from Paddington, A murder is announced, A Caribbean mystery, The moving finger, They do it with mirrors, and At Bertram's hotel.
