Growing beside the pond > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5481925 in Poringland's Memorial Garden. This plant prefers chalky soil but can also be found beside rivers in mildy acid areas, where it grows, with its roots in the water, in the vicinity of ponds and lakes. The colour of its flowers varies from white to pink and deep purple. The blue-flowering plant beside it is Pickerel weed.
