Former Halton station near Lancaster

The station building dates from 1907, replacing an earlier structure that was destroyed by fire. It closed to passengers in 1966, and the railway line from Lancaster as far as Caton is now part of the Way of the Roses cycle route, as evidenced by the cyclists seen here. It was originally a line of the Midland Railway connecting with their Carnforth-Leeds route at Wennington.
