Built in the late 19th century as a pair of semi-detached houses that were later converted into shops. Highclere on the left was originally a hairdressers before becoming a bakery currently occupied by local chain Truffles. Thorndene to the right became a dental surgery, then also a bakery, then a branch of Alliance & Leicester before closing around 2005. It briefly became a branch of Santander but is now a bookmakers.
