This was originally installed in the offices of the Mapperley Colliery Company. It was rescued at the last minute during the demolition of these and eventually installed alongside the village war memorial in West Hallam http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5475534 . The use of ceramic tiles to record the names is thought to reflect the use of ceramic tiles in the winding engine houses.
