"Sunnyside", 78 Banbury Road, was the home of Sir James Murray (1837-1915), founder of the Oxford English Dictionary: he lived here from 1885 to his death. In a building in the garden, the Scriptorium, Murray operated a system of pigeonholes for collating the enormous amount of information sent to him by correspondents; the out-going post from the Dictionary team was such that the Post Office erected a special pillar-box outside the house, which still stands. Further information on Murray can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Murray_(lexicographer).
