Crowned signpost at road junction

The signpost standing at the road junction near to Knipe was also photographed by Rob Burke in May 2010 - http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1885117. The signpost has clearly been renovated since then and presumably the crown added - it certainly seems to be absent in Rob's image though there is a 'two-dimensional' feature on top which could be an edge-on view of it. In the image submitted here the crown surely appears to be three-dimensional.
