Effigies on the Vaulx memorial

The Vaulx memorial in Meysey Hampton church is in one of the transepts. The memorial includes effigies of Dr James Vaulx and his two wives as half length portrait effigies and predella panels of kneeling children Image] Image James Vaulx died in 1626, Edith Jenner, to his right died 1617, and Philip(e) Horton to his left, died 1631. The effigies of James and his first wife includes a skull, indicating they were dead when the memorial was erected. Originally the memorial was in the chancel and was moved to its present position in 1872.
