Hydrangeas are popular ornamental shrubs, grown for their large flowerheads. They are native to southern and eastern Asia and the Americas. Native Americans have used the root of indigenous wild hydrangea as a mild diuretic. The Cherokee Indians used this herb for urinary retention and stones.
