The American owned Knapton Power Station is gas turbine powered solely from local land gas and produces 42 Megawatts of power. Scottish Power sold the plant to RGS Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of US Energy Systems for £15.5 million in August 2006. The power station opened in 1995.
