Grade II Listed 15th century gateway. Property in Lynn was granted to the Austin friars in 1293 by Margaret de Southmere. The only surviving remains of Augustinian Friary that occupied the site from 1293 to 1539. Prior John Capgrave (1393-1464) was an early historian who lived here. Kings Henry V, VI and VII stayed here. After the Dissolution, John Eyre purchased it from the King in 1544.
