The doorway to the former offices and textile warehouse on Canal Street Image of M Nairn & Co, carpet and linoleum manufacturers. The company had started their business in Kirkcady Image in the 1870s. By the 1880s they had warehouses in London, Glasgow and Paris as well as Manchester and Kirkcaldy. The motto in the top frieze reads USQUI CONABOR. Perhaps the I is a stonemason's error. "Usque Conabor" is the motto of Kirkcaldy High School and translates as "I will try to do my utmost". Between the two windows above the doorway is a coat of arms Image The building is currently (2017) home to the Kiki nightclub.
