Located on the front wall of the nursing home in Benslow Rise, SG4 9QY, this plaque has the following wording on it: BENSLOW HOUSE Emily Davies (1830-1921), campaigner for the higher education of women, established here in 1869 The College for Women. Her small band of pioneering women laid firm foundations for what became, after 1872, Girton College, Cambridge The logo at the top of the plaque is that of St Mary's Parish Church in Hitchin with the River Hiz below it.
