He was mentioned in despatches and awarded the OBE the following year. For many years he lived in Calcutta before retiring to live at the Old Rectory House in the village ('Lt.-Col. Sir Charles Miles' The Times, London, England, Thursday, Dec 29, 1966; pg. 10; Issue 56825).
