After operating for over 200 years as an inn, the Carbeth Inn, beside the A809, closed to customers in October 2016, and was put up for sale. The new owners are intending to spend up to £1 million refurbishing the inn, and changing the business to include a coffee shop and a farm shop; having houses to rent for holidaymakers; and also cycle hire.
