The 1866 Maryport Town Plan shows a property marked as "Spirit store" on this site in King Street and further research indicates No. 25 King Street (to the left in this view) was a pub called "The Board Inn", which was acquired by the State Management Scheme in October 1918. The purchase included a property described as "bonded stores", which may be on the right in this view and could be the "Spirit Vaults" which was also on King Street and acquired at the same time as "The Board Inn". No record has yet been found regarding disposal of these properties, but they were probably closed shortly after acquisition and have been private dwellings since.
